18 Month Check Up
Gavin and Logan had their 18 month check up today and once again their doctor is impressed with how they are doing! Both boys are 33in tall and Gavin weighs 20 lbs 12oz and Logan is 21 lbs 11oz. Logan had a difficult time with being examined but we kind of expected that. His last ER visit was a little traumatic. He did give the doctor a high five when we was all done. Gavin did really well, he didn't object to anything that the doctor was doing. They also got flu shots which they handled like champs. Now, we don't need to go back until they turn two!

Thanksgiving Fun
Last Wednesday we headed down to my parents house to get ready for Thanksgiving festivities. The car ride could have gone better, Logan was a little crabby but nothing that a little distraction couldn't fix. By the time we arrived, he had a temperature of 103, we gave him ibuprofen and he laid down for a nap. Gavin was happy as can be, exploring the house, discovering new toys and playing with aunts and unlces. Later that night, Logan's temp rose to 104.4, after having medicine, we called Grandma Nancy for her expertise nursing advice and then we called their doctor's on call line. The doctor advised us to go the ER since he wasn't having any symptoms except for the high fever.
So, off the the ER we went, it was strange that Galen and I both got to go, usually one of us goes and the other stays home with the non sick kid. Logan spent the entire time crabby and screaming. He did not want the doctor or the nurse even looking at him. The doctor said his ears and throat looked good and his lungs sounded good. He thought he may have a UTI but we couldn't get a urine sample, so home we went with instructions to bring him back if he got worse.
That night was a little rough, both boys were up from 2am to 6am but Logan was in a pretty good mood and didn't have a temperature anymore. Once we got them to sleep, they slept well and slept until 10am. The next morning Logan didn't have a fever and was pretty much back to his normal self with the exception of being clingy and crabby.
For Thanksgiving we went to Tom and Maria's. I love Thanksgiving (and Christmas too) because all of my dad's siblings get together and I get to see grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins that I hardly ever see. It's always so much fun to see everyone and get updates, unfortunately the boys were crabby so we didn't stick around as long as I would have liked to.
The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing and hanging out. Gavin and Logan ended up sleeping really well in pack and plays Thursday and Friday night which was such a relief to us. Saturday we headed back home and Sunday we had Thanksgiving with Galen's side of the family. I certainly will not complain about having to eat two Thanksgiving dinners.
We officially have our Christmas tree up and all of our decorations. Originally, we were going to put up our 4ft fake tree as a test to get the boys used to having a tree. Then we were going to replace it with a real tree in a week or two. Well, the fake tree will be sticking around for the entire 2012 Christmas season. Within the first twenty minutes the tree was up, six ornaments had been pulled off and the tree kept getting touched. The tree is keeping Gavin and Logan absolutely fascinated. They love to give it kisses and they carry around the presents, occasionally the presents go for rides in their trucks. The best part of the tree is that they colored lights are helping them learn their colors! They both can point out all the blue lights and they can now say blue. We are still working on red, green, yellow and orange but I'm confident they will learn them before the tree comes down.

Happy Half Birthday!
Eighteen months ago, Galen and I found out that Gavin and Logan were going to be born. I remember the slight panic and worry that immediately set in. Looking at them the night they were born it was hard to imagine anything other than tiny babies in isolettes with IV's. And now, here we are 18 months later, with happy, heathy, energetic boys. God is good and we are so blessed.

It's Been A While
I've been slacking at blogging, part of it is laziness and the other part is that it's too difficult to use the computer when the boys are around. Logan likes to push buttons and shut the computer. Gavin likes to stare at his reflection on the back of the computer and give kisses.
We've had a busy few weeks, like always! Their second Halloween went well, they dressed up as skeletons and we stopped by a few friends houses. They even got some candy, which they have been enjoying. The difficult part about candy is that they now know where the candy bowl is located and they come running whenever they hear a wrapper being opened.
The weekend after Halloween, they stayed at my parents for a few days, I headed to Chicago and Galen stayed home. I met up with 14 of my twin mom friends who all have twins the same age as Gavin and Logan. We've been talking online since we found out we were pregnant and we finally (two years later) got to meet up. It was a fun, relaxing weekend and it sounds like Gavin and Logan behaved pretty well. When I got home, they were pretty clingy for a few days. We even skipped going out on Galen's birthday because we didn't want them to think we were leaving them for three days again.
Gavin and Logan have still been learning things like crazy. They high five when asked, the best is when they high five each other and get really excited about it. Gavin can now say "no" and seems to be using it appropriately, which is a little scary. Logan's new favorite toys are his Scout and his teddy bear, he has been very attached to them lately.
It's hard to believe that in just a few days they are going to be eighteen months old. Time is flying by and before we know it we will be sending them off to preschool!
