We had a wonderful Christmas, probably the best Christmas I've ever had. It was so fun to see Logan and Gavin try to open Christmas presents, they really loved the wrapping paper. And this Christmas made me excited for them to grow up. Don't get me wrong, I'd like them to stay little but I've now realized that this whole growing up thing won't be so bad.
Gavin and Logan got so many great gifts. Santa brought them My Pal Scout dogs that say their names, sing songs and ask questions. He also brought little push walkers. We got them a racetrack, a kitchen and some little bears. They also received baby dolls, blocks, books, blankets and homemade blankets from my parents, books, an ornaments, and blocks from Galen's parents, piggy banks and toys from their great grandparents. And from their aunts and uncles, clothes, their first Playmobile set, toys, hats ornaments and money for a car fund. They were spoiled by everyone and loved every second of it.
We did a lot of traveling over Christmas and spent about ten hours on the road in less than a week. On Christmas Even we went to Papa and Gran's where they got to hang out with extended family. They wore their little Christmas sweaters, corduroy pants and button up shirts. Their outfits made them look like little business men. We went to mass on our way home and they behaved very well. Both of them managed to stay awake the whole time. Christmas morning we opened presents with my siblings and parents, had brunch and headed home. Christmas night was spent with Galen's family opening presents and playing games.
And last but not least, Gavin and Logan are both finally getting teeth!! Both of their bottom two teeth are starting to poke through, Gavin's a little more so than Logan. They are chewing on anything and everything that they can get their little hands on to. Oh and they are drooling like crazy too. I'm going to miss their little gummy smiles.

Happy 7 Months!!
I know that I write this every time Gavin and Logan get another month older, but where does the time go? Seriously. It seems like just yesterday I was sitting in the hospital convinced I was never going to get to take my babies home. And here we are at home, more days than not, because going places with twins is a chore, especially in the winter. But I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Gavin and Logan love to sit up. It's pretty much all they want to do. They are slowly perfecting their sitting skills and we are starting to see fewer face plants. I've been putting boppy pillows around their waists so I don't have to sit next to them every time they want to sit up. They are slowly figuring out how to move around on their bellys. Logan has scooted a few inches backwards even. But, they still don't really have any interest in rolling over. I think they figure that it's easier to cry when they want to change positions and then I'll do it for them.
Logan's favorite new activity is to pull Bowser's fur. And he pulls hard. He has even pulled out a few handfuls of fur. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't end up with a hairless dog. Luckily Bowser is patient and just sits there, letting him pull. Or he spends his days sleeping and only waking up when the babies are sleeping. Gavin is very gentle with Bowser and likes to just rest his hand on him. Bowser is developing a strong preference for Gavin and it's not hard to see why.
The boys are still in six month clothes and aren't really showing any signs of moving to the next size soon. They are long babies but they are so skinny. They are still wearing size two diapers but will be moving up to size 2-3 as soon as we are done with this box.
Galen finished up his classes for the semester today! He has three finals this week and then he gets to be home for three weeks. I'm looking forward to spending time with him instead of just handing off babies while I'm on my way to work. We will have a busy three weeks with three Christmas celebrations, trips to visit my family, painting Gavin and Logan's room and a trip to Nashville! Yes, a five day stay in Nashville and Gavin and Logan's first time on an airplane.
And one last thing, today Gavin and Logan share their 7 month birthday with their auntie Sami's 20th birthday!!! So, happy birthday to my beautiful, talented, smart, amazing younger sister. She is the best sister anyone could ask for and we were so lucky that she came to visit last weekend. We love you!!

Logan's Head
Logan spent the majority of the pregnancy with his head under my ribs. It was insanely uncomfortable and resulted in a funny shaped head for him. At his two month appointment we addressed our concerns with the doctor and were told not to let him sleep with his head pointing in the same direction and that it would gradually improve. By our four month appointment it had improved but not as much as we had hoped. But since Logan was spending less time laying down we waited again. Once again, his head looks way better than we thought it would when he was two months old but it still isn't as symmetrical as the doctor would like it to be.
In January we will be taking Logan to see a specialist. Chances are that he won't need a helmet and that this will straighten out since he spends the majority of the day sitting up, doing tummy time or playing in his exersaucer. But there is a slight chance that he could need a helmet. My hope is that if he needs a helmet, it's for a short time since we are catching this relatively early. His doctor said kids who get helmets before they are one spend a lot less time in them than those who receive them after age one.

Just A Little Update
It's been a while since I've posted, we've been so busy! Gavin and Logan had a great first Thanksgiving. They got a little taste of sweet potato in the morning and then later enjoyed some squash. We went to Tom and Maria's house for dinner and the boys got to meet aunts, uncles and cousins. Uncle Jake even made it home from California, he hadn't seen the boys since June. The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing, hanging out, and shopping. It really was a perfect first Thanksgiving.
Today, Logan had to be cut out of his onesie. He fell asleep on the couch and when he woke up, I noticed that something smelled funny. I picked him up and there was poop everywhere. It was on the couch, a pillow, a blanket, his pajamas and his onesie. I started to change him and discovered that it was all the way up his back almost to his neck. I tried to take his onesie off but ended up getting poop on his arms, by this point Gavin had started screaming because he was hungry. Of course, Galen was at work during all of this. After a few more minutes of trying to figure out a good way to get the onesie off, without getting poop on anything else in the house, I decided that it was more logical to just cut the stupid onesie off of him.
Gavin and Logan are still working on perfecting their sitting up skills. Logan toppled over and hit his head on Thursday while we were getting 6 month pictures taken. He was not happy and it quickly put an end to the photo shoot. They still don't really like to roll over, but they will do it every so often. Gavin tends to roll more than Logan and he is always very impressed with himself. Both boys are still so smiley, talkative and happy. The only time they are fussy is when they get annoyed about something and right before bed time.
Sleeping habits have not really improved but they have ended the early morning parties. When they get up a night they eat and go back to sleep. They are still working on being introduced to baby foods are now eating pears, applesauce, bananas, carrots, squash, green beans and peas. Gavin is our eater who eats until he is full and then he is done. Logan would eat three containers of baby food if we would let him. I think at their next appointment Logan will weigh more than Gavin.

Thankful List
Today, and always, I have so many things to be thankful for. Here is a short little list of my top things today.
1. I-Phones, You Tube and Baby Einstien: without these three things Gavin's meltdown would have started much sooner on our car ride last night.
2. My Toyota Highlander: I can comfortably sit in the backseat in between two carseats which is such an advantage on long car rides.
3. Galen: I'm so lucky to have him and he treats me like a queen. And he knows how to cook really well. He is so great with Gavin and Logan and is always willing to help out. Plus he gets up with them at night. I seriously don't know what I would do without him.
4. Diet Coke: I couldn't function without it and if I tried I would be insanely crabby all of the time.
5. My family: They are wonderful, supportive and always there when we need them.
6. Bowser: He is so good with the babies, much better than we thought he would be. And he likes to cuddle.
7. Thanksgiving food: Nothing beats turkey, mashed potatos, canned cranberries and stuffing. Oh and pumpkin bars.
8. My Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller: I would never leave the house if it wasn't for our stroller. It makes impossible tasks, like grocery shopping with two babies possible.
9. Nikki and Alanna: They have answered countless twin questions, offered advice and encouragement. They are the best and really understand how crazy but wonderful having twins is. I'm blessed that I have two great moms to turn to for advice.
10. And I saved the best for last, Gavin and Logan: I can't imagine my life without them. I'm thankful they are healthy and happy. I'm thankful that I get to be their mom.

Six Month Check Up!
On Friday the 18th, Gavin and Logan had their six month check up. Their doctor says that they look like healthy boys! Logan caught up to Gavin and they are now the same height...27.5 inches. Gavin still wins in the weight category, but only by two ounces. He is 16lbs 4oz and Logan is 16lbs 2oz. Once again, they had to get shots but they handled it really well. They only cried for a few minutes and fell asleep right after.

Six Months!
Six months ago our lives changed forever. We were warned about the lack of sleep, late nights and how difficult it would be to care for two infants at once. But we were prepared for that, or so we thought. The thing that we were truly unprepared for was how much we would fall in love with Gavin and Logan.
It still amazes me that I have twins. Honestly, it is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I still find myself just staring at them because they are so dang cute. I love watching them try to figure something out, like how to sit up or how to roll over. They get so proud of themselves when they accomplish something.
They have changed our lives in the best way possible and taught me so much. They taught me that I can function without sleep and not be the crabbiest person on earth. I've learned how to be more patient and multitask. They' have taught me that their little smiles can make my bad day turn great. But most importantly we have learned about a type of love we never knew existed.
It's somewhat fitting that today, November 17th is not only Gavin and Logan's six month birthday but it's also National Prematurity Awareness Day. So today, I'm celebrating my beautiful babies born at 35 weeks and 5 days and thanking God for their health and happiness.

Rolling and Sitting
Tonight Logan rolled from his back to his stomach. Of course I wasn't home when it happened and Galen didn't see it, but he did it!! Logan was on his back, on his playmat, while Galen was working on some homework. He heard Logan fussing a bit and looked down and there he was on his stomach. I tried to get him to do it again when I got home, but no such luck.
Both boys are able to sit up on their own now! They can last a few minutes but still have their wobbly moments where they tip over. They really prefer sitting and standing to laying down. Right now they are both sitting on the couch smiling at me and looking around the living room. When they are sitting up they look like little people instead of babies.
Teeth should be appearing any day. They love to chew on anything and everything. Gavin even tried to chew on Bowser the other day. For the most part, they are pretty happy but have their occasional fussy moments when they get upset that their teeth hurt.

Green Beans!
Add green beans to the short list of foods that Gavin and Logan love. Once again, I could not shovel the food in their mouths fast enough. They are such good little eaters. Most of the time, they sit in their highchairs, hands at their sides and open their mouths when they see the spoon. Occasionally, they need to chew on their fingers because I'm being too slow. They aren't even very messy eaters, food generally makes it into their mouths, which makes clean up so much easier.
They are still being difficult with sleeping at night but are slowly improving. We've gone from waking up every three hours to every four to five. And the five am parties have stopped...for now.

We Love Carrots!!
Gavin and Logan tried carrots for the first time today. It went better than the cereal and they quickly ate them. I was impressed that they didn't even have very messy faces when they were done. When Galen got home from class I decided that he should get to see them eat. Logan and I went to put them in a bowl and as soon as he saw the carrots, his little legs started kicking. He was so excited.
This time when they ate they were leaning towards the spoon and opening their mouths before the spoon was at their lips. I couldn't put the food in their mouths fast enough. It was like they were little sharks. And of course when they were finished, Bowser licked the bowl clean. They have to stick with carrots for five days and then we can try another type of baby food.
I think that Gavin and Logan have discovered each other. Yesterday morning they were on the couch with their faces turned to each other and they were smiling. Later that day, Logan was laying on the couch so I picked up Gavin and put him a few inches away from Logan's face. They both got the biggest smiles on their faces. And apparently when I was at work last night they were talking to each other while they were playing in their exersaucers. Of course they stopped the second Galen pulled out the video camera.

Feeling Like Superwoman
Today I took both babies grocery shopping by myself. I have taken them out a lot by myself but never for an entire grocery run. Usually when I take them with me to the store it's a quick trip and we are done in ten minutes. Well not this time.
After spending all morning thinking about how we had no food, I decided that today would be the perfect time to attempt shopping. Luckily, I have a few twin mom friends who are experienced in the grocery shopping with kids department so I knew a strategy to try. Once we got to Cub I put the boys in the side by side stroller, they are really starting to hate being stuck in their carseats. I had way more stuff on my list than what I could fit in the basket so I pulled a cart while pushing the stroller.
And that is why I feel like superwoman. I accomplished something that I thought I wouldn't be able to do until they were much older. I know it probably isn't that big of a deal to anyone but I was pretty impressed with myself. And the little old ladies at Cub were also impressed.
Our shopping spree lasted an hour and the boys were so well behaved. It helps that they can look around while they sit in the stroller. As soon as we got to the checkout lane, Logan started screaming. Once I picked him up he was fine, but I had to hold him while I bagged groceries. More superwoman points?
In other more exciting news, Gavin and Logan turned five months old on Monday! And they are doing great! I think they are both teething, they have been fussy and chewing on anything and everything. Gavin even tried to chew on Bowser's head today. Neither of then have rolled over again, they are either a little lazy or have decided that rolling isn't that fun. They do love to stand though...maybe they will walk before they roll over?
In the past few days they have both really started reaching for things and grabbing them. Now they actually play with the toys on their exersaucer and playmat. Logan figured out how to make his exersaucer play music today, which was cute at first but then the song started to annoye me. They continue to get more vocal every day and are not afraid to let us know when they want something.
Gavin and Logan are still eating one tablespoon of cereal every morning. They were getting cereal in their bottles at night but we decided it wasn't helping them sleep better so we are just doing formula. Once they turn six months old we will start other baby food. I'm still trying to decide if im going to attempt to make it myself or just buy it.
Another big change is that we have purchased new carseats for the boys. They are still in their infant carseats but will meet the height limit pretty soon. So, last weekend my parents babysat and Galen and I got to go to Babies R Us and test out carseats. We found a seat that we liked and they fit in our car, which is always a plus. As exciting as it is to get new things, I'm hoping they make it through the winter in their infant seats. I'm paranoid about slipping on the ice while carrying them.

And last but not least, it's almost been a year since I found out I was pregnant. What a year it has been and I wouldn't change any of it. We are so blessed to have happy, healthy babies, wonderful families and great friends.

My Kids Hate Me
Our road trip yesterday went perfectly...a three hour car ride with sleeping babies. When we got to my parents they were happy and so smiley. All hell broke loose around ten pm. Logan decided that staying awake was more fun than sleeping. Then he decided that spitting up multiple times added to the fun of being awake. After two pajama changes, I gave up and let him sleep in dirty pajamas. I'm pretty sure I'm not winning the mother of the year award. During the time that Logan was awake, Gavin decided that he was going to fall asleep, wake up and repeat multiple times. Neither of them wanted to sleep. We played the wake up and fall asleep game until 3am, I was ready to cry. Finally, they both fell asleep and then woke up three hours later to eat. They continued to wake up multiple times and fuss. I'm pretty sure Galen and I each got about four hours of sleep.
Tonight has started off much better. We put them to bed two hours ago. Logan has fussed once and gone right back to sleep. Gavin has already gotten up to eat but fell back to sleep right away. I'm hoping and praying they stay asleep. And I told them if they sleep for eight hours I'll give them each a million dollars.

We've Got Another Roller!
Logan rolled from tummy to back for the first time today!! He was pretty proud of himself and still hasn't stopped smiling yet. He has yet to do it again, but I'm anxiously awaiting the next roll.
The past two weeks have been rough for sleeping for Gavin and Logan. They have been up every few hours, been difficult to put to sleep and have just been cranky. During the day they have refused to nap for more than twenty minutes at a time. But last night they decided that they would be nice to us and they both slept for eight hours. And today they both took an hour nap. Thank goodness. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will once again become an every night thing.
Gavin and Logan moved up to 3-6 month clothes yesterday. Changing sizes is such a bittersweet moment. It's sad to see the cute little outfits go but it's so fun to get a whole new batch of clothes. Both boys have started "talking" much louder. Logan is much louder than Gavin though. If I'm in the laundry room I can hear them talking to each other. Their exersaucers are their new favorite toys because of all the different toys. They also like them because they can look all around the living room and it's a perfect spot to watch Bowser from.
Over the weekend, my mom and Sami came for a visit. We loved having them around and they got a lot of baby holding time in. We made a trip to the pub for dinner and comedy. Gavin and Logan got to meet their Great Uncle Tom who was in town to do comedy. Luckily Auntie Adrie was able to babysit while I went to comedy with my mom and Sami. This weekend we head to my parents for Charlie's conformation!
