Well technically, why us? It's the question I find myself asking at random moments through out this whole crazy, yet so wonderful journey of having twins. Today is one of the days where it has been asked multiple times. You may wonder why and on first guess think it's because the boys have been crabby today but that is hardly the case. Today, I got news of another multiple mommy who isn't doing so well, and neither are her unborn babies (prayers for her please) and it breaks my heart.
It's stories like these that make me hug Gavin and Logan a little more and make me savor every moment I have with them that much more. It makes me appreciate everything about them that much more. Also, it makes me appreciate being pregnant for as long as I was and not having bad complications or the babies being in danger. And at the same time I wonder why I (we) got so lucky? There's no rhyme or reason to it but I am so blessed and thankful that things worked our for us. So tonight, I'm snuggling my sweet babies and thanking God for every moment that I get with them.

Finally!!
Gavin and Logan can finally hold their own bottles!! We have been waiting for this day for a few months. This morning, I made them bottles and Logan only wanted to feed himself, so far he has half of his bottle gone. Gavin thought he would attempt too but then he got lazy so he has a onesie propped up under his bottle. I don't mind holding their bottles while they eat but it's nice to know that I can change the TV channel without them screaming at me now.
Logan and Gavin have started to attempt to pull themselves up on stuff. Gavin tends to be a bit more cautious and Logan is our daredevil. He would rather stand up and he isn't afraid to let you know it. Their favorite forms of standing assistance are their playhouse, their race track and of course each other. Both of them make it to their knees and then aren't really sure where to go from there. Occasionally they face plant or land on each other.
Another new favorite activity is stealing toys. If Logan has something, Gavin will steal it and if Gavin has something, Logan will steal it. It never seems to upset them that their toy is gone, they just pick up another and go back to stealing. They learned how to play tug o war with Bowser, which they really enjoy. Bowser will grab one end of the rope and the boys the other, they laugh the entire time.
I think that one of the best parts about having twins is watching them interact together. They smile when they see each other and still like to snuggle occasionally. Also, they try to chew on each others arms/heads/random body parts but it almost looks like they are trying to give kisses. And Gavin likes to play with Logan's ear when they have their bottles and they still like to hold hands. It's fun just to sit and watch them together because every day is something different.
Both boys are working on getting their top teeth. Today I was actually able to feel Gavin's and I'm guessing we will see it in a day or two. Sleeping has been going a lot better but they are currently in our bed which means I'm still not getting great sleep. We are in the process of painting their room and will hopefully be done this weekend, then it's back to the cribs!
One horrible thing about this age is the separation anxiety. I have to sneak out of the room some days and if they see me disappear they scream and cry. It's hard to get stuff accomplished so I make the most of my time when they are napping. They also need constant entertainment and want me to be playing with them/sitting by them all the time.

Home Sweet Home
We arrived home on Tuesday night and I am happy to report that the flights home went just as well as the flights there. Gavin slept on both flights and only woke up once crying. He cried for a minute and then snuggled up and went back to sleep. Logan slept for the first flight and was awake for the second. Luckily, he was very happy for the flight. He even got a cup from the flight attendant that kept him occupied for quite some time.
Once we arrived back home we encountered a little problem, our luggage didn't make it with us. We had one checked bag, which wasn't a big deal because it just had clothes in it, but we didn't have the carseats. We were able to borrow unused four year old carseats until we got ours back. It took us about an hour to figure out how to adjust the straps and get them put into a car. Gavin and Logan cried the entire time we were trying to get the carseats situated. It ended up being a longer night that we had anticipated but it all worked out in the end. I'm very grateful that delayed luggage was the only problem we had on our first flight with the boys.
The morning after we got back Logan had his head appointment at Gillette. He was seen by a nurse practitioner and she decided that his head will probably continue to correct itself. Big Changes
Lots of stuff has been happening in our lives! First of all, Gavin and Logan have outgrown their 3-6 month clothes and are now in 6-9 month clothes! I'm always sad to pack stuff up but I love dressing them in new clothes. Sometimes I get a little jealous that they get a whole new wardrobe every three months. And the next big thing is Gavin is rolling over consistently! For the past few days he has done it multiple times while on the floor and in the middle of the bed. He does it just because he wants to. Logan still needs a little motivation like a cell phone or a computer to get his butt rolling. They also have started eating puffs, which are basically Cheerios but they disolve better. It's pretty funny to watch them pick them up and try to put them in their mouths. Puffs have quickly become Bowser's favorite food and he will occasionally try to steal them from the boys. He even managed to break into the container the other night and eat a ton of them.
And last but not least, we are in Nashville!! The boys did so well on both plane rides. Neither of them cried and we received many compliments about their behavior. I'm hoping that the return flights go just as well. We had a few firsts while in Nashville. Galen, Auntie Katie and I took the boys on their first boat ride yesterday. One of the Opryland hotels has a really pretty conservatory in it and they have tour boat rides. Gavin and Logan got to see fish, fruit trees, waterfalls and a 50ft tall Chtistmas tree. They liked to look over the edge of the boat and look around.
They also got their first tour of Nashville when we walked around Saturday night. We went in a few gift shops and Grandma bought them Nashville cups, plates and bowls as souviners. Then we had a big family dinner at BBKings. They had live music and the best mac and cheese ever. Gavin snd Logan slept throught most of dinner and managed to leave a big mess of puffs under the table.
Last night they also got to try chewing on slices of apple. Immediately they fell in love and spent a decent amount of time happily chewing away. Today we had plans to go to Franklin TN but Gavin and Logan are so cranky. They have been on the go since we arrived on Thursday and haven't had much downtime. They are currently napping on the floor and looking cute as can be. Galen and I kind of needed a break too. Vacation is tough with two babies. It's hard not having high chairs, cribs or execersaucers but we are surviving.

Goodbye 2011!
2011 was great but I have a feeling 2012 will be even better!! Here are some of my favorite (and not so favorite but memorable) highlights from 2011...
January: Morning sickness finally went away and we found out we were having TWO BOYS!!!
February: Major shopping spree that included two carseats, a double stroller and pacifiers with the babies names on them.
March: 14 hour bartending shift on St. Patrick's Day gave a whole new meaning to the term cankles. Had a wonderful baby shower at the pub and received so many thoughtful gifts.
April: Had two more wonderful baby showers! Set up the crib. Got taken off of work and put on "sit around the house and do nothing" rest.
May: Spent the day and night before Mother's Day in the hospital terrified that the babies were going to arrive. (They almost did)
May 17th: Gavin Matthew and Logan Patrick arrived and were (and still are) the best things ever.
May 27th: After ten insanely long days in the hospital we were finally allowed to come home.
June: Celebrated my 25th birthday as a new mom.
July: Made our first long car trip with the babies. Babies started smiling. Had a Meet the Babies Party.
August: Gavin and Logan's first night away from their Dad, thanks moldy basement. And their first hotel stay to celebrate their three month birthday.
September: Galen started school, I started work and our lives became crazy. Logan and Gavin had their first taste of rice cereal.
October: Babies first Halloween!! And they rolled over!
November: Celebrated Galen's 28th birthday. First Thanksgiving, first time sitting up and their first time having something other than boring rice cereal.
December: Best Christmas ever.
