January Update

Yikes, it's been a month and half since the last update.  Like usual, I have really good intentions about updating but then something always gets in the way.  And tonight's update won't be as long as I'd like, I need to go to bed soon.

Rylynn is almost ten months old and she is growing up so quickly.  She has learned how to clap, wave and high five.  And she's really proud of herself every time she does one of her tricks.  The biggest things she has learned how to do are crawl and stand on her own.  I'm pretty sure she will be walking any day.  Her favorite foods include; puffs, spaghetti squash, carrots, cheese, green beans, paper products and chicken.  She really likes to share with the dog and try and steal food from her brothers.  Her favorite toys are her dolls, her musical table and anything her brothers are playing with.  Right now she is wearing twelve month clothing and size three diapers.  Also, she has developed a yell/scream/squawk that sounds very similar to a dying animal.  It's a horrible noise, we really prefer her babbling, coo's and laughter.

Last weekend Rylynn and her cousin, Mikey, who is two weeks younger than her were baptized together.  I'm so glad that the two of them are so close in age, they will be able to share major life events together.  The baptism was a wonderful little ceremony with a very funny priest.  After we had a very nice get together at the pub.  Rylynn, and all of us, are so lucky to have such a wonderful family, Jake even came all the way from California for her baptism!

Gavin and Logan have also grown up quite a bit in the past month and a half.  They are curious, adventurous and occasionally causing trouble.  The other day, when I was at work, I got a phone call from Galen.  It went something along the lines of "the carpet is blue and the boys look like Smurfs" only with a few swear words added in.  Apparently, while the boys were supposed to be having quiet time, they pushed over their baby gate, ran into my bedroom, found blue shaving cream and smeared it every where.  They were blue, the carpet was blue, their clothes were blue, and a few other miscellaneous things were also blue.  Luckily, the children returned to their original color after a bath, unfortunately the carpet still has a slight bluish tint to it.

Today during quiet time, they managed to open a tube of diaper rash cream, smear it on their train table, the wall, the beds, their noise machine and their clothing.  The cream came off of everything except for their clothing, and I'd rather have their clothes wrecked than their carpet or the paint on their walls.  They really didn't have an explanation for why they did it, I'm sure it was all toddler curiosity but they thought it was so cool that they got to help clean up.

Other than the occasional mischief, the boys have been doing well.  Their vocabulary is insane, they know so many words and manage to use them fairly correctly.  They are still wearing size 2T clothes and wearing size 4 diapers, it's only a matter of time before all three wear the same size diapers.  We have been talking about potty training but they don't really seem that interested yet.  The idea of wearing underwear is very appealing to them but they don't want to use the potty.   We aren't pushing it yet, they will get it when they are ready.  Their favorite foods include; jelly and sandwiches (peanut butter and jelly) bananas, applesauce, cake and candy.  Their favorite toys are trains, tools, and anything that Rylynn is playing with.  They are currently going through an only wearing pajamas phase, they hate to get dressed and most days it's a battle we don't fight.

That's all I've got for tonight, my goal will be to update some time again within the next two weeks.  But we will see how that goes.
