Here's an update on almost the entire month of July. The 4th of July was spent with Sami and Charlie staying at our house. We hosted our annual 4th of July party and we got to show off our new house to a lot of people. Gavin and Logan's friend Dom came over and they were beyond thrilled.
On the 5th, my parents, Jake and Nicole joined us. The boys were so excited to have so many people at their "housie." Friday was spent relaxing, grilling and playing toss. On Saturday, my parents, Sami and Charlie left.
Jake and Nicole stayed another day and we took the boys to their first carnival. Nicole and I took them on an airplane ride, they were in heaven. I on the other hand, almost threw up. Logan smiled the entire time the ride was going on. Gavin was a little upset when it ended and asked to go again.
Uncle Jake played a toss game with them and won a few stuffed animals. They also played pick a duck and won some more animals. Galen took the boys on the merry to round and they had a blast riding the horsies. Every time the passed us they had a huge grin on their faces.
Last Tuesday, my grandparents, Gavin and Logan's great grandparents, came up for a visit! It was so wonderful to see them and have them see our house. The boys, like always were excited to have visitors to show off for.
That night, we headed down to canal park. I went against every belief that I have and bought popcorn for the boys to feed the seagulls. I really dislike seagulls so this was kind of a big deal for me. At first the boys would set the popcorn down next to their feet so we had to have Galen throw some popcorn down to attract the birds. The boys thought it was the coolest thing every. They kept saying "birdies, hungry, popcorn!"
After that, we wandered along the lake walk. Logan really wanted to run along the biking trail, and of course Gavin followed. It proved to be a little challenge for Galen since he frequently had to move the boys out of the way of bikers and rollerbladers. The boys loved every second of it, as they ran they yelled "trail, go fast!"
Our evening also included dinner at Grandmas, the boys kept referring to onion rings as doughnuts. I'm sill amazed that we are able to go out to eat with them. They only last about 45 min but a few months ago we didn't even think about bringing them out to eat. My babies need to stop growing up. After eating, we went back to Canal Park and watched the bridge go up and sailboats go by. They were fascinated by the water and the boats. But they were even more fascinated by standing under the bridge and eating the cars drive over them.
We also went for a little walk, both boys listened pretty well. We would let them run ahead of us but occasionally we would have to tell them to slow down or hold hands. As we were walking along, Logan found a spot that was spray painted red on the sidewalk. He was so excited about it, he knelt down and kept yelling "red, red, red!" Gavin had to see what the excitement was all about and pretty soon they were both pointing at the spot.
Down by the harbor, there is a blue metal railing to keep people away from the water. As we were walking along, Gavin put out his hand and walked quite a ways with his hand along the railing, touching all of the spindles. As I watched him do this, I thought to myself, when did he get so big? How did he know how to do this?
Rylynn is still doing really well. She is a terrible napper but she sleeps through the night so we can't complain at all. She is defiantly more high maintenance than her brothers were. We are constantly having to walk her around and keep her stimulated. And if she is mad, she is not afraid to show it.
I still can't believe how big she is getting, and so quickly. It feels like time is going faster than it did with the boys. Rylynn is in size two diapers and wearing six month clothes. Today, for the first time in quite a while, she fell asleep while laying on me. It was great and reminded me of when she was a newborn. She is normally such a stubborn sleeper, she has to be swaddled and has to be laying on her back on a flat surface.
Gavin and Logan are doing so well. They have really adjusted to this move quite well. Their vocabulary is still expanding every day and now they string two or three words together. Do it, get it, move it, and eat it are some of their favorite phrases. They can pronounce Rylynn now, except it sounds like Ryan. They also like to refer to her as chubs.
I'm feeling rather sentimental and emotional tonight, as you can probably tell from previous comments. But I just can't get over how lucky I feel to have been chosen to be these three little people's mom. Their smiles light up my life, their kisses make me melt and their hugs makes bad days better. I want to freeze time and kept them this age forever.
