Last Wednesday we headed down to my parents house to get ready for Thanksgiving festivities. The car ride could have gone better, Logan was a little crabby but nothing that a little distraction couldn't fix. By the time we arrived, he had a temperature of 103, we gave him ibuprofen and he laid down for a nap. Gavin was happy as can be, exploring the house, discovering new toys and playing with aunts and unlces. Later that night, Logan's temp rose to 104.4, after having medicine, we called Grandma Nancy for her expertise nursing advice and then we called their doctor's on call line. The doctor advised us to go the ER since he wasn't having any symptoms except for the high fever.
So, off the the ER we went, it was strange that Galen and I both got to go, usually one of us goes and the other stays home with the non sick kid. Logan spent the entire time crabby and screaming. He did not want the doctor or the nurse even looking at him. The doctor said his ears and throat looked good and his lungs sounded good. He thought he may have a UTI but we couldn't get a urine sample, so home we went with instructions to bring him back if he got worse.
That night was a little rough, both boys were up from 2am to 6am but Logan was in a pretty good mood and didn't have a temperature anymore. Once we got them to sleep, they slept well and slept until 10am. The next morning Logan didn't have a fever and was pretty much back to his normal self with the exception of being clingy and crabby.
For Thanksgiving we went to Tom and Maria's. I love Thanksgiving (and Christmas too) because all of my dad's siblings get together and I get to see grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins that I hardly ever see. It's always so much fun to see everyone and get updates, unfortunately the boys were crabby so we didn't stick around as long as I would have liked to.
The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing and hanging out. Gavin and Logan ended up sleeping really well in pack and plays Thursday and Friday night which was such a relief to us. Saturday we headed back home and Sunday we had Thanksgiving with Galen's side of the family. I certainly will not complain about having to eat two Thanksgiving dinners.
We officially have our Christmas tree up and all of our decorations. Originally, we were going to put up our 4ft fake tree as a test to get the boys used to having a tree. Then we were going to replace it with a real tree in a week or two. Well, the fake tree will be sticking around for the entire 2012 Christmas season. Within the first twenty minutes the tree was up, six ornaments had been pulled off and the tree kept getting touched. The tree is keeping Gavin and Logan absolutely fascinated. They love to give it kisses and they carry around the presents, occasionally the presents go for rides in their trucks. The best part of the tree is that they colored lights are helping them learn their colors! They both can point out all the blue lights and they can now say blue. We are still working on red, green, yellow and orange but I'm confident they will learn them before the tree comes down.
