When It Rains It Pours

Alright, that may be a bit of an exaggeration but seriously we have kind of had a week from hell.  First Logan started running a fever and luckily got over it quickly.  And then Gavin started running a really high fever.  We spent two hours in the emergency room early Thursday morning after he screamed for two straight hours.  The diagnosis?  An ear infection.  After a few days of antibiotics he was back to his old self, thank goodness.

We also had Galen's dad's freezer (which was in our laundry room) blow a fuse and defrost.  400lbs of meat and other food was lost, and Galen spent four hours cleaning it out.  Then we discovered that the defrosted meat juice dripped through the wall into the boys room and onto their brand new carpet that had been installed a few days earlier.  And to put the icing on the top of this delightful cupcake of crappiness, our water got shut off on July 3rd and we were told it wouldn't be back on until July 5th.   Perfect, just in time for our 4th of July BBQ and just in time for Sami and Charlie to make it halfway to our house and have to turn around.

Despite all of that, we have had a lot of great things happen.  Currently we are celebrating the 4th of July and my parents house, taking full advantage of their air conditioning.  We grilled out and lounged in baby pools.  Both boys overcame their fear of grass, perfected their walking skills and wore shoes for longer than thirty seconds.  Gavin and Logan handled their first fireworks experience much better than anticipated.  They watched in awe and seemed to enjoy every second.  Neither of them were scared by the sound of the fireworks and Logan kept putting his hand up to try and touch the fire works. 

We were able to get almost our whole apartment painted with the help of Uncle Michael and a co-worker.  Galen and I expected to get our bedroom and the hallway done, but they managed to get the kitchen done too, which was a huge weight lifted off of our shoulders.  We still have Gavin and Logan's room to paint and all of our crap to move back in, but it was really nice to sleep in our own bed for a few nights.

And last but not least, we received new play mats from two of Gavin and Logan's twin friends to replace the ones that we lost in the flood.  It was such a surprise and a nice gesture since that was something that we weren't going to be able to replace.  They also received teddy bears and a gift card from a bunch of their twin friends.  We are going to use it to buy a dresser for their bedroom to replace their changing table.  Again, that was an item we were going to do without.  I'm amazed by the kindness and generosity of my June Twin Moms.  I've only met one of them, yet this group of women have gone out of their way to help us.  When they get old enough to understand, Gavin and Logan will hear all about their twin friends who gave them new toys and bought them a new dresser.
