Gavin's Allergy

Thursday morning Gavin woke up with a rash from head to toe.  At first we thought it looked a little like chicken pox or mosquito bites but that was definitely not the cause.  He was acting like normal and was happy and content but Galen and I were worried.  Since we were at my parents house we couldn't go see his regular doctor so we ended up in the emergency room in town.  The doctor said that he thought it was a rash from an amoxicillin allergy and that it would go away on it's own.  We were told to give him Benadryl and keep a close eye on him.

We headed back home on Thursday and by Friday his rash looked so much worse.  I tried to make an appointment with his primary care doctor but he was out of town, so off to Urgent Care we went.  Again, we were told an amoxocillin allergy but this time we were given steroids for him.  Today he is looking so much better.  Gavin won't be able to have amoxicillin or penicillin but the Urgent Care doctor mentioned that they might try giving him amoxocilin when he gets older since some kids out grow the allergy.

Still happy even with a rash!
Close up.
