Gavin and Logan's first birthday was a success! On their actual birthday we had a pretty low key day. They opened their presents, a little people set, a helicopter and money and puppy pillows. We spent the day at home playing with toys and then ordered their favorite pizza and breadsticks for dinner. Later that night they had cake. At first they weren't too sure what to think of it but then they got really into it. Gavin wasn't a fan of the frosting on his hands but he managed to pick up his piece and take a few bites. Logan smiled the whole time he was eating and was a huge mess by the time he was done.
After cake, the boys had baths and then Logan and I headed to the ER. It turns out he had a double ear infection, which is not a very good birthday present. He is on amoxicillin for ten days and we will most likely end up seeing an ENT doctor to discuss tubes.
We had a big party on Sunday for the boys. So many people came, I think it ended up being about 50. I was a little nervous about the party since it was right during their nap time and Logan had an ear infection. The boys really did great. Logan snuggled with whoever was holding him and stayed pretty serious, but there were no tears or meltdowns. Their friend Sofia was a big help when opening gifts since the boys really weren't too interested. They received so many gifts, clothes, toys, and college fund money, they truly are blessed to have so many great people in their lives.
After gifts we moved onto smash cakes. Logan had a puppy cake and Gavin had a monkey cake, those animals were on their first hats and they have been a way to separate stuff for the boys. Gavin really wasnt a fan of the cake. He didn't want to stick his hands in it and preferred to be fork fed cake. Logan was all about getting messy and at one point stuck his face in his cake. Both boys were cute and I can't wait to see the pictures. As soon as all of the guests left, the boys quickly crashed.
